Qingzang Railway

Final day in Tibet! In the name of experiencing the world's highest railway, we took a 25-hr train ride to Xining (would have probably taken us only 1-hr's flight!) on the Qingzang Railway. 青藏铁路

Crossing the bridge which leads out of Lhasa, towards the train station.
Departing view of Lhasa
Lhasa Station
All new and clean...
Our carriage... "hard-bedded" - which means 6 beds to each cabin with no doors.
On the train station platform.
Departure time @ 11:20am

Estimated time of arrival at Xining @ 12:30pm (the next day)

Our cabin. It was a challenge to fit 6 people and all our luggages into the tiny cabin! p.s. I slept in the middle bunk.

Our carriage was carriage number 12. Lhasa Station is situated at 3647m above sea level.

A common washing area. BEFORE departure. 25hrs later... not so clean.

Diner carriage. I brought my own instant cup noodles.

View of QingHai Lake from the train.

Most of the scenery looks like this.
