Mom's Birthday Lunch 2009

Lunch at Crystal Jade Dining In @ Vivocity

Treated mom and dad to dim sum...

Fried Prawn Roll & Mango - Yum! a fresh new taste!
Steamed BBQ Pork Bun - SUPER YUM! very good fillings and light bun!
Shrimp "Chong Fun" - Yummy with wonderful sauce!
"Ha Kau" - Yummy too!
"Siew Mai" - Tasty too!
Roasted Pork - Now.. read on the internet reviews that this was really good... Ermmm .. maybe I'm not a big fan of roasted pork, but I found it only an "ok". True .. there's no pig smell, and the roasted skin is crispy, and the meat's really tender..... but I'm just not a roasted pork fan. (More of a cha siew fan)
I thought this was like the braised in brown sauce ones we find in traditional dim sum place, but this came. Hmmmm
I had also ordered a Cream custard with salted egg yolk bun.. YUMMY !! but forgot to take photo! aiyah!

Now.. since we're at a "fine dining" restaurant, we should have a bowl of sharks' fin soup each! ah ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Recommended by the very nice waitress, we ordered three very different concoctions of the delicacy.. ...

Oops.. was so enthusiastic to eat this dish that I forgot to take a photo BEFORE we started.
Anyway, this was "Hu Tong" Shark's Fin -- Shark's fin with fish maw, mushroom and cabbage. This was Mom's and Dad's more favored dish. I think cos it's more like the ones we are usually served at dinners.
Braised Shark's Fin with Hairy Crab Roe - a seasonal speciality dish. There's a LOT of shark's fin in THIS one! The sauce was super yummy too! but definitely a high cholesterol dish. Gotta go exercise more now!
Shark's Fin with Soup made with Shark's bone and chicken. Really GOOD soup!
